guillenThanks for visiting my webpage!

I have been a part of the Guill
en family since December of 2001. I am currently teaching 8th grade Humanities and 6th grade social studies.  I graduated from UTEP in 2001 with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree. I am certified in Gifted and Talented and spent the last ten summers as a curriculum writer for the Humanities program. The students and faculty of Guillen are the best and I am very proud to be a member of this community.

8th grade Humanities is a rigorous program that integrates United States history, reading, writing and Fine Arts.  Along with the course work, students will be required to complete a research project for National History Day. The theme for this year's project is "Leadership and Legacy."
Students should expect a reading or social studies assignment for homework every day.  In addition, students will need to visit the city or UTEP library in order to research for National History Day.

I am available every day after school for students who require additional help with their homework.

The 6th grade social studies covers world geography and the study of world cultures.

I ask that students come prepared for class and complete all homework assignments.

If you have questions or concerns you can contact me through the office or email me at jlwitte@episd.org.
